Stony Brook Looks Forward to a Bright Future

On Wednesday, October 12, at the Staller Center Main Stage, President Maurie McInnis delivered the 2022 State of the University address to students, faculty, staff, elected representatives, and members of the local community.

“The future of Stony Brook lies in our ability to create a dynamic, engaged environment that welcomes ambition,” McInnis said. “It lies in our ability to nurture diversity and collaboration. [We] support excellence across campus and recognize the powerful impact we have on Long Island and in New York State.”

During the address, which was also livestreamed, McInnis welcomed newly hired faculty and shared recent achievements by the university community, as well as her vision for the institution going forward.

Cablefax Most Powerful Women 2022

On Thursday, December 8, Cablefax celebrated the Most Powerful Women honorees. The crowded Edison Ballroom showed that in-person events are back with a bang. As attendees filled out a questionnaire—which included questions like “ Taylor Swift or Lizzo” and “Which Most Powerful Woman should start a podcast”—Cable One CEO Julie Laulis and The WICT Network CEO Maria Brennan were honored as this year’s Women’s Advancement champions.

Best of North Atlanta Awards Gala 2022

The North Atlanta Annual Award Show was a night of celebration and appreciation. The event was hosted by Cadillac Jack, the founder and CEO of the company, who spoke about how he got to where he is today.

Cadillac Jack showed a video that featured his humble beginnings in Smyrna, Georgia. He then shared stories about his life journey and what it took for him to get to where he is today. He also talked about how important family is to him and the love that he has for them.

Jack concluded his speech by thanking everyone who had helped him along the way in achieving success – from friends and family members to employees at Cadillac Jack’s Bar & Grill.
